Best Baby Teethers 2021: Tried And Tested

The NHS highlights that teething is different for all babies, for example some babies are already born with teeth, others start teething before they are 4 months old and some start after 12 months, however it is usual for most babies start teething at 6 months.

This can be quite a stressful time for both baby and parents, with sore gums as new teeth develop and babies wanting to chew on just about everything in sight. Teethers are designed to help with this teething stage, they are toys that a baby can put into their mouth when new teeth are developing to help ease sore gums.

We can safely say each baby is different when it comes to teething and you may have to try a few different things until you find something that works for your baby. In order to make this research a little easier, here is my round up of the best teethers which I have found effective for both my babies.

Nuby Icy Bite Keys Teether

These are great for sore little gums, as they work with a PureIce gel inside (a non-toxic water based gel) in each key that cools when you place it in the fridge and provide a cool relief when chewed on. I like how there are multiple teething surfaces all of which are BPA free, and the teether encourages oral motor skills, helping the development of lips, tongue, jaw and the hard and soft palates. Suitable from 3+ months and can be purchased HERE.

Konges Sløjd Natural Rubber Teethers

I initially bought a couple of these as a gift for my six month old baby for Christmas and they were an absolute hit, so I naturally had to include their range. I really their fun take on teethers with their scandi design, and they are all made from 100% natural rubber and hand painted with food grade paint. Suitable from 0+ months and can be purchased HERE.

Infantino Vibrating Strawberry Teether

This has been a favourite for both my babies. A BPA free gummy textured vibrating teether that gently massages gums when baby bites down. Easy to grasp handle makes it great for little hands to hold, while the vibrating motion helps to relieve soreness. The teether’s soft textures are soothing on even the most sensitive spots. Suitable from 3+ months and can be purchased HERE.

Silicone & Wood Teether

These teethers also make a beautiful keepsake as many can be personalised. There is a wide selection online in various designs made from natural wood and food grade silicone balls, which make it easy to grip for little hands, while also providing interesting textures for teething babies to chew on. We particularly like this personalised one by swiss Ela Handgemacht HERE and Pellianni Rocket Teether HERE.

Nuby Fruitsicles Ice Pop Tray

These are great during the warmer months as a healthy treat using breastmilk or a homemade puree while also soothing sore teething gums. They are the perfect smaller size for babies and fits perfectly in their hands. The handy design also catches any drips and is BPA free. Suitable from 6+ months and can be purchased HERE.
